btw, i made some change on the frontplate that i share here
thx again

Hi Chinkel.

Thanks for te cool model. Im printing/building mine , and I noticed that you have installed the linkage mount incorrectly.
Yours is installed in the drone, while on the "real" one, it is actually installd on the gun pods.. Look at this pic, and you can see it :-)

I just found it, this is awesome model mate. One of the best designed drone ever. Love the film. Thank you.

Thank you very much! It was really fun to work on!

is the file re-scaled and fixed, like to print it...good job!

yeah, I think I got all the files correctly uploaded a year ago, seems like plenty of people have made the model without problems!

I know I'm a little late to the game (just got ship notification for my new Prusa i3Mk2S printer, which will be arriving Friday). Loved this movie so looking forward to the build. Just curious - have you heard of anyone putting LEDs on it and putting the controlling electronics inside? I'm thinking of modding the sphere to be snap fit and hollowing it out for a coin cell and LED driver chip.... Edit: I also have access to a vinyl printer so I can make a black "166" to go on the drone. That'll look pretty cool with LED(s) for lighting.

I haven't seen anyone do it, but it shouldn't be hard! If you look at the Thingiview for the front and back halves of the body, you'll see that the model is already hollow. You're essentially left with an empty cylinder that's about 37mm tall and has a 44mm diameter. As far as snap-fit goes, this is already designed so that the two halves are held together using pegs. If you find just the right size (think along the lines of bamboo skewers, chopsticks, lollipop sticks, etc.) you should be able to securely friction fit the front and back halves of the body without gluing them together. Sounds like a fun project, good luck!

Do you have the inner and out gun sections at the right scale?
If you look at the one Shaische made they are about 20% too big.
I could simply adjust them myself but then others wouldn't get them.

SonOfAGun!!! I knew something didn't look right in those photos but I didn't look closely. This is what I get for printing my model in January but waiting to post to thingiverse until April, I forgot which parts needed to be rescaled. I borrowed the inner and outer gun sections from BrandonW6, but his drone model was based on a 100 mm sphere, whereas mine is based on an 80 mm sphere. So yes, the guns are supposed to be 20% smaller than what I posted, I didn't realize I hadn't saved them at the proper scale. I will post the correct sized STL's, good catch

How do you assemble the guns to the main body? I see they are in 2 parts the linkage mount and my linkage v4. In what order did you parts together

The linkage mount fits on the body of the drone. Looking at the 3rd and 4th pictures, the linkage mount is black, the linkage is gray. just glue the linkage to the mount. It may be easier to glue the linkage to the outer gun section first so that you can align those circles more easily. Then you can glue the mount to the linkage, and finally glue that whole assembly to the drone.

Ok, think i have it but can you check the my linkage file as when i printed it directly from your file it doesnt match the photo. it looks half size

Good catch, you're right. I forgot that when I initially designed the linkage it was for a smaller scale version. I will update the file.
