Very nice design! I had to use 80%+ fill because the legs bend under the weight of a Canon 70D with 18-135mm lens...

can I know the diameter for this file

M5x16 bolts are too long

Awesome! great and compact

Hecho y he realizado un aporte para dicho modelo. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2833679.
Gracias por el diseño. Un saludo.

Done and I have made a contribution for that model. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2833679
Thanks for the design. A greeting.

Works perfect with the "Customizable Camera Screw" https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2749041/
and the following parameters:

height = 9;
diameterKnob = 20;
heightKnob = 8;

knurlWidth = 3;
knurlHeight = 2;
knurlDepth = 1.5;
knurlEndSmooth = 4;
knurlSurfaceSmooth = 0;

diameterThread = 6;
step = 1.2;
roundness = 4;
degrees = 45;

Dont forget to print the screw horizontal.

Customizable Camera Screw (Thumb Screw)

This is a brilliant design, thank you for sharing

Hi Andrew. Thanks for your tripod files. I really love its design and I will try to print one. But I have a few questions beforehand.

I have seen one of the remixes with the quick release plate, which is nice but makes the tripod bigger.
What I would appreciate in your design is the possibility to print a tripod screw that would remain attached to the plate. Tripod screws do not have a thread that is standard for DIY in France, they can be somewhat difficult to find and expensive.

So is the hole in the plate threaded? If it isn't, would it be possible to have a shallow 'round hole' on the surface of the so as to accommodate an e-clip? (Have a look at this quick release plate https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:246855 to see what I mean.)

There are quite a few tripod screws to print on Thingiverse but the would I'd be interested in is this Thing: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:246855 because you don't need a coin to screw it in or out. Do you think such a screw could be easily adapted to your tripod so as to remain permanently on it? Do you think its sturdiness would be impaired?

I am quite a newbie at 3D printing and I know next to nothing at designing so I don't know if I would be able to remix your tripod…

By the way, to answer bzeek101's question, there are printable nuts and bolts here: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:193647. I don't know however if they would fit this tripod. I guess so, but they probably wouldn't be so strong.

NUT JOB | Nut, Bolt, Washer and Threaded Rod Factory

Hi!
I get what you mean. I bought something like this: https://www.amazon.com/SmallRig-Threaded-Monopod-Steadicam-Stabilizer/dp/B006GB5MDW?th=1
The hole in the plate is slightly smaller than the threads, so you screw this tripod-screw in and after passing through, it won't fall out of the hole any more.

Printing screws is possible, no doubt, but I would not fix my DSLR to the tripot with such a screw. Being realistic in 3D-printing, you have to take things like screws (which are cheap jellybean parts!) for granted. It's other, complicated geometries where 3D-Printers excels, but not screws. (one can argue about that, I'm sure!) So I agree, they won't be so strong.

kind regards
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
Thanks for your quick and useful reply and your link.
Searching on the French version of Amazon, I could find those screws at a reasonable price and can order some from there.
Regards

Can you design special nuts and bolts for this tripod?? That would be even more convenient! Great design!

Hi! What do you mean exactly?

kind regards
Andrew

He meant that instead of buying metal bolts and nuts that you should design some

these bolts are too small to be reliable and strong enough for this purpose if 3d printed

love the design and variety of pictures

This Tripod works great. Thanks for the design.

I liked it so much I made a YouTube video of me making it. I Hope you don't mind. https://youtu.be/y7pHGeA-6W8

Hi! No I don't mind at all - thank you for sharing your video!

kind regards,
Andrew

what scale do i print this at

Hi, this print is in mm and should not need any scaling.

kind regards,
Andrew

what type of screws did you use to put it together, and where would you get them?

Hi, please have a look at the thing details, there you will find what hardware you need. I suggest at a hardware store? ;)

kind regards,
Andrew

I made one, very nice. Simplify3D Medium setting no raft .2 layers , robo3D r1+

Which software did you use? Great work! I liked the chamfered edges...

Question: If you use that camera to record prints, how long can you record on say a 32gb. Do you record your prints?

Hi, this type of camera is photos only.

kind regards,
Andrew

Edit: No I don't record my prints.

$2.37 in parts, 13 meters of plastic at 20% infill. Works great!

Printing it right this second! Didn't have time to design my own for my trip to Europe, but i was soo happy when i found yours! It will sure be very handy!

Looking forward to printing this for our lab! I will post results once it's done. Thank you for the time and effort you put into this!
