Most AWESOME! Have you ever seen PyCNC...direct control from the pins of Raspberry Pi to stepper motors?

Really like your pcb designs...very clean!


I had heard of PyCNC but dismissed it because of the problem of running real time motor control on a non-real time OS like Linux. But reading up on it, its using DMA to control the GPIO so by passing the CPU. A neat idea...

The biggest problem we've had using Raspberry Pi boards, is cleanly shutting them down. We've had a bunch of corrupt sd cards when the power was unexpectedly shut off. I was looking into making the OS read-only so it could be shutdown without worrying about it. But by that point we'd already started looking at the ESP32 as a replacement for both the Raspberry Pi & the Arduino in this application (we haven't gotten very far with the software, but there is a dev board on github).

Oh yeah...this is why I got several of those ESP32 CNC boards in...10 actually...of which I only need 2 or 3 at most...

If you have a linux machine handy..just pop out the cards, and do a scan and fix on them in a linux machine..usually brings em right back up
