Hi there! I love your model--so clean and perfect for education. I realize this is not supposed to be necessarily anatomically accurate, but if you are making another version at some point, here's a detail of the 3 semi-circular canals that we designed for a similar purpose. Two of the canals actually connect together after they leave the vestibule. Great model!

Vestibular Apparatus Education Model

Thanks for the comment, you're kind of right we tried to make it sort of accurate but since we all are engineers we really didn't knew if it was, we based the design in a reference image someone gave us. Now we know it's not that accurate so i'll try to fix that in a v2. thanks for the kind words and we accept suggestions in what other model you'd like to see next.

While you're at it... you should check out this very clean and accurate model:

You can browse around and see all of the details. We can't wait to see your next version!

Thanks for the openness to feedback--there is actually a lot of misinformation out there because the vestibular apparatus is so small and hard to reach surgically, so any way to help others understand it is great! Attached is an image I found that should show you more clearly the semi-circular canals and its connection to the cochlea. They are connected but actually serve two completely different functions. Thanks for the great model and supporting education through technology!

When i try to import it to my Slic3r the program stops working and shuts down.
Does not happen to any other STL so far. =\

I'll look into it, this is the first time someone reported this issue, i can tell you i had this issue with moddels with to much triangles in an underspect'd pc.

I remixed it to make it easier to print, The end with the drum doesn't touch the plate. I just added cylinders at each and and cylinders through the cochlea to give it more surface to print. Really great model though, and I will be using it in my Psychology presentation for school.

This is great! Going to be printing it for my Sensation and Perception professor

thanks for taking the time to comment, hope you really liked it and was useful.
