What a great design! When can I buy a 'kit' of the plexiglas pieces to build one up using parts from a torn down mk4 extruder? I've tried 3 builds to get consistant extruding from 2 different plastruder mk4s with no luck. Sure would like to try your version out.

A kit would be nice and certainly an improvement. I've been happily using the extruder I've designed for a few months. I don't know when the MK5 extruder stuff is coming out, but when it does it will probably include the improvements I've made as well as a whole lot more.

I'm assuming you ar eusing Delrin for it's low co-efficient of friction... so what about using PTFE ( ie Teflon ) as used in the thermal barrier, which has an even lower co-efficient, and you are then reducing the number of different materials that need sourcing.

Very nice. Is the aluminium there to cool the top section of the barrel (does it get hot?) or mostly for mechanical strength? I have a heat sink against my PEEK barrel, for both purposes and it works fairly well.

People have been seeing their heater barrels pop out of the thermal barrier. Placing a nut behind the washer fixes this. I drilled and tapped an M6 hole in a piece of aluminum to give the same effect in the small space I had when two extruders are mounted together.

still using 6mm acrylic? very nice refinements!

I'm glad you like it. I'm not sure of the thickness. It's supposed to be 1/4 inch, but acrylic is not always the stated thickness.

Looks good, nice work Mr PAX.
