These are great. I'm using them a lot right now for rpi usb power cables, scaled down 75%. Pretty sure they'll end up in most of my wiring soon.

CAT6 cables don't seem to fit (the type with the inner spine to pull between floors). No big deal, just scale it up by a few percent and it should work. Just in case somebody wants to print a lot and then find out the hard way :D (I think the holes in these are about 5mm and the cables I have are 6mm thick).

I have a suggestion for an improvement which would be to make these into a customizer that would allow you to add number of cables and individually adjust sizes of the cables so you can have ethernet and usb cables with the same holder

You really saved the day with this one! Networking closet hasn't looked cleaner in a long time!

I accidentally did a batch that stopped too soon, so the loop at the back of the 16 cable version hadn't completely closed. It did however clip very nicely to the square cage but holes in the rack

Printed up some of these great devices for managing my cables in the ham shack. I found a scaling factor of 125% makes great device for managing RG6 (aka cable tv) coax cables. Also fits my Yaesu G450 rotator control cable.

This isnt about the ethernet cable's, but I was wondering why your name is muzz64. is it like you were born in 1964 or your 64 years old or what ? thanks! -Matthew

Hi Matthew... born in 1964 so well before 3D printing became a reality. Considering what it has made possible I wish I was Muzz74 or even Muzz84... I can only imagine what will be being made through this technology in the next 20/30/40 years.

I made a modification to this that allows them to be clipped together. Do you mind if I upload the improvement back to thingiverse? Maybe someone else after me will improve it further and also post it up.

Thanks for your message... I appreciate that you have adapted my design to suit your requirements and believe it would be of use by others on Thingiverse. The fact is there is a myriad of ways these could configure these and I have made several versions for people who have requested specific variations that I haven't posted. The bottom line is what is published covers 95% of what people will want / need /use. I tested these with a number of IT guys before posting them so I knew I had covered 'most' requirements.

I set my licence terms to be no derivatives for a reason... I have a lot of designs up here and used to allow this but keeping it simple and files I know work is all important to my sanity as much as anything else. Unfortunately there have been derivatives of various designs posted that cause people issues printing or that don't provide the solution / outcome expected... and as the originator of the design I get bombarded with requests for assistance or worse. Not my doing but I do try and help...

I'm more than happy for people to customise my things for their own use but what I post is kept simple so it should print easily, well and reliably for almost anyone. I could post lots more things that would not meet that criteria so don't because not everyone would be happy with the outcome. As it is I get at least 10 support requests a day and I do what I can to assist although they are almost always machine or slicing app related (i.e. not the design). I can do without more...

Hopefully this explains my reason for saying no to derivatives being posted.

I'm sure plenty of people modify other peoples files to suit their own purposes (i.e. for individual use). Happy with that... but if it wasn't their idea then they shouldn't post their derivatives if the originator has stipulated a license type. Just my view....

Anyways, I've sent a support ticket asking thingieverse to disable the whole remix feature if it would violate the license of a thing.

Btw: Love your animal clips, will print one for my daughter.

I see the "Remix it" link is gone/disabled on designs with a nd license. cool.

Welcome to 3D printing... I assume you have a MakerBot / use MakerBot Print?

If so you don't need to download the .stl. Open the app, select your printer, locate the file you want to print and send it to print. The app will do the rest.

However, this doesn't allow you to apply the settings recommended to ensure they are strong and flexible (3 shells / 75% infill). To do that you will need to download the .stl to a computer that allows you to change the print settings.

If you are using some other app / printer I can't advise about this but would expect the process to be similar.

I'm assuming you still haven't resolved this... I can only base my comments on how the MakerBot app works and in that case you don't see the .stl file when printing via the app. you just connect the app / phone to the printer then (within the app) navigate to the design you want to print... tap on the image of the design and the app does the rest. It will download the file and send it to print. You do not download the .stl as a separate part of the process. With the MakerBot app it really is that simple... with a computer you download the .stl then import it into the application. The mobile app is much leaner... so simpler but it doesn't allow you to change print settings which can be critical to the strength of the print.

The Cable Runners should work fine with different thickness cables if you scale them up or down uniformly to suit. Just calculate the ratio between the standard size (refer design information ) and your cableslicing.

Thanks, nice and simple design. For CAT-6 cables with a fairly hard plastic sheath measuring 5.9mm I had to print at 120% for a nice fit.

The range of cables out their makes it impossible to upload files to suit every size. Even sheath thicknesses makes a difference... but that is the beauty of 3D printing because you can scale things to suit in your slicing app (as noted in the thing details). Pleased to hear you got them to work well for you...

I've printed the variant for 6 cables, 2mm high instead of the original thickness.
It works for me and I have 35 of them in 2 hours.

Just made a few of these to clean up some microphone cables in my studio. I found that scaling them up 15% was the perfect fit for mic cables.

these need a loop on the top so you can zip tie them down to cable trays, conduit, mesh or hook them on under sides of desks and shelving.

Thanks for your comment. I had thought about mounting options including screw on and zip/cable ties but decided to keep them simple initially. However, I've just uploaded zip tie on versions for the full range. Hope this achieves what you want... I still wanted to keep them small, easy to use and quick to print.

i have an idea for a univeral clip that these could mount to.. and the clip itself coule have either screw hols or zip tie slots on it.
Do you have the dimentions of the mounts? I would like to create a uniersal mount for it.

Thanks for your message... there's lots of files posted so I'm not sure which one you are referring to specifically. However, the design is relatively simple so you should be able to open the .stl in almost any design app and take the measurements from within the app... hopefully that works.

I use Rhino 5... I find it fantastic for 3D print design work. It costs a bit but is worth every cent as far as I'm concerned. To progress beyond fairly basic things you're going to need a better design app. As free entry level programs go download 123D Design... it's free and will let you do a lot more and with relative ease.

In a word, Genius. You keep coming up with things that are so simple, yet invaluable.
I used to work in network installations, if only I had these back then. But then we didn't have 3D printers then either :-)

They are designed primarily to suit Ethernet cables which are commonly 5.0 - 5.5mm in diameter. However, anything over 4mm will be held in them albeit not as securely,,, so run any small cables inside a bigger one. That will lock it in place.

Many PC / Laptop power cables should work okay but extension cords are usually a larger diameter so too big. I hope this helps...

muzz.. i was thinking it might be easy enought to print inserts which can adapt the thickness? I am getting some idea.
