This design is used for organization of keys, necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. The holes in the back board are for hanging earrings, the two "T'" shaped structures on the sides are for hanging keys, the two cylinders are for placing bracelets or watches around, and the center tree is used to hang necklaces.
Objectives: Students will be able to explore both creativity and functionality with this design. Students who look at or produce this model will learn the importance of organization and creating correctly scaled pieces to fit the jewelry, watches, an keys being placed on the model.
Audiences: This design may be used for anyone who needs a place to store their things. necklaces may often get tangled and earrings may get lost if they don't have a place to regularly reside, so this would help people of all ages stay organized.
Preparation: Students should be familiar with the inventor program and comfortable with manipulating the tools in order to create the more expressive design of the tree in the center of the model.
Steps! : To begin, start a sketch in the XY plane and draw a 2" x 24" rectangle. Starting in the middle of the top of the rectangle, draw a tree that is 2" wide at the base. From there, draw the tree upwards and create enough branches to hold as many necklaces as you would like. Finish the sketch and extrude the rectangle 3" in either direction and extrude the tree whatever thickness you would like in each direction. Fillet the edges of the tree to make it look more realistic. Start a new sketch on the base of the rectangle and draw two circles for the bracelet/watch organizers and then two T shaped holders on either side for keys. Draw a rectangle on the back side of the design with a thickness of .25" and create a rectangular array of small circles across it in order to make holes in which to hang earrings.
Results: When finished, students will have explored the art of both calculating a precise design and exploring their creative abilities in inventor, and they will be left with a aesthetically pleasing model that can be used to organize.
