Hello. The design is good and if you mirror one of the end pieces it will be better. The scorches is colouring the wood only at one side.

Hi, love it! Just wondering how you designed it? I'm using Illustrator currently to make some modifications. Did you use a CAD technique or manual calculation for getting the comb joints correct?
And does anyone know if there is any way to design in 3D, like Solidworks, then import as a laser compatible file?
Cheers, H.

I designed this in illustrator with some trial and error in the spacing of the joint cuts, no very scientific calculations went into it.

I use solidworks all the time for my more complex projects, generally I draw the 3d parts, then place them on a 2d drawing and export the drawing to DXF.

I'm new member and I tried to download eny of your lovly designs but faild.....why?

i tried this out in perspex but unfortunatly the hinge failed when bending. i think that it was because the cuts on the endge of the hine re welded themselves back together.

Yes, this does seem to be the same design, or a customized version of it.

It is legal to resell, but it should be attributed and re-shared under the same licence.

Great work, however

Just cut this (v2), the two sides are different lengths - one is short by 3mm.

Has anyone had success with this bendy ply ? - mine just keeps breaking, I've tried different grain, ply type and thickness, cut spacing, cut order - just doesn't last more than a dozen openings ??

Great concept 'though ! Maybe someone can help ?

Good catch, I've fixed that length issue in v3.

I've had great luck with the durability of my copies, I have one of them on my desk to keep odds and ends in, and always has worked more or less the same even after a few hundred openings.

I used a 1/8in fiber board which is already a little flexib
le. Some 1/8in "real wood" board I've cut is more brittle. I also have not tried this with 1/4in wood, I assume it would not work so well.

would you mind posting an eps of your design too? That is the file format that poses the least problems when importing into other programs, in our experience.

Okay, I've also posted an EPS.

Have Fun.

I sure did, the glue is drying on the second (larger) one.
