I discovered I have access to a 10m resolution elevation model of Norway.
So I decided to see if I can print my next paragliding spot.
The original model is 1000x1000 points at 10m resolution = 10km x 10km. The downsampled version has a 100m resolution. The cliffs are roughly 450m high.
STL file is sampled down to 100m resolution, exact heights. Print in multiple colors if you dare. The flat areas are a fjord. The transparent blue PLA should look good for water.
I have appended a scad of the 10m model. You may try to print this if you happen to have more memory than I do. It's just a few times more complex.
There is also a little bit of python code to convert a Digital Elevation Model (DEM/DTM) in ASCII grid format to scad code.
