What would need to be changed to make the outside more "scalloped" i.e. show more of the circumference of a single lobe?

I assume you are talking about the basket weave type design. In that case, fewer lobes will result in more of the circumference being exposed. Each lobe has an edge on the center of the object so fewer lobes mean more exposed circumferences.

Hello, Eckerput - that's not it exactly. Actually I'm trying to get the lobes to be more prominent for a given number of them. The thing I'm modeling has 18 lobes, but for that many the sides are nearly smooth - would like each lobe to look more like a half cylinder than just a small arc of a cylinder.

Hmm, that would require a different script which pushes the lobes out from the center as they increase in number. It sounds cool though I'll see what I can come up with.

Thanks, that is a much better solution, than my insane script to make openscad cut out the middle part :-P

For this one you need to make it hollow when you slice it by specifying no top layers and no infill (for a vase) or no top and bottom layers with no infill (for a bracelet). If you are using the standard Makerbot software my understanding is that it doesn't have those options. I've yet to wrap my head around how to make this script produce hollow vases. I was however able to include a hollow option for two of my other vase things. Check out the Polygon or Square vase customizer if you want to have the script make a hollow STL for you.

your script is very nice, but when I run it, it makes a solid object, and not a vase/bracelet, what did you do to make it hollow?
