Do you still have the Fusion360 file?

i have been jusing the old version for years now printing the new one nice work

I have been using this cooling fan duct for a while but it does not stay securely onto the X carriage. Will you be uploading an updated version of this with better grip so it doesn't easily fall off? Thanks :)

I've been using mine since I created it and it hasn't come loose yet. In other words, it is a perfect fit for my carriage. I wouldn't know how to change it for yours.

On mine, I engage the top first then rotate it into position. It sort of snaps into place and is very secure. If yours is loose it might work to scale it down very slightly and reprint. Or put a layer or two of tape on the carriage to take up the slack - or some double sided tape, couple drops of hot glue, or something else. I leave mine in place all the time so if glued on semi-permanently it wouldn't be a bad thing.

Thanks for your suggestions and quick response. I will try to print out a slightly smaller version in PETG and see if that gives it more stability

I printed this in PLA, mounted a 12V fan to it with the screws, connected it to the 2 pin connector that was previously connected to the PLA turbo fan on the left side of left extruder (which I removed from the X carriage). Once it turned on a Layer 2, the fan started releasing smoking. Electrical smell too! What went wrong? Am I not supposed to connect it this way?

I am hundreds of miles away from my printer now, but I think my fan is 24V. If you connected a 12V fan to a 24V supply then the release of smoke is not surprising.

I ran a separate set of wires from the power supply to my fan, with a switch in series so that I can turn off the fan. Not sure if the "turbo" fan on your machine should be disconnected, maybe it is needed to keep the extruder cool? These muffin fans come in a variety of voltages - 5V, 12V, 24V, probably something else too. You need to be sure to have the right voltage of fan to match the power supply.

Thank you for your response. You're right and I confirmed with my manufacture that it is supposed to be a 24 V fan not a 12 V one.

Just a short pointy screw. Pretty much anything should work that fits through the holes in the fan case.

No supports required for printing.

Did you print this in PLA itself? How well does it hold up if so, any issues from heat being so close to the nozzles? Or did you print this in ABS?

Yes it is printed in PLA. No issues at all with heat.

I should add, no issues with heat when printed in PLA - if the fan is running. If you leave it in place without the fan running and print something then the heat from the nozzle(s) may deform it.

I added a small connector in the wires so that I can easily remove the whole assembly. That isn't really necessary because you can just let the fan run whether you are printing with PLA or ABS. ABS prints seem to come out better with the fan on anyway...

Do you have a few before and after prints for comparison, fan on fan off examples of various surfaces etc? This looks like it'd work on the newer ffc as well.

No, I have been printing in PLA for some time now. I used MasterFX's fan (after modifying it) on my left extruder with good results. I designed the dual one so that I could use either extruder with PLA.

This is labeled V5, but is really only the third dual version that I printed.
