Could you make a version for the smaller New 3DS?

I don't own one of the smaller ones unfortunately :/

Hey! I have uploaded that remix here - https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2773405. I want to thank you again for saving me from having to re-invent the wheel with this problem. Would you mind if I asked you something? I've been using Sketchup for years to model projects. That is a totally different animal than trying to create something from scratch that will interact with an existing, real-world object, like this. I'm trying to learn Blender now. When you modeled this, did you work from measurements you took of the 3DS, or maybe from a pre-existing CAD model of the 3DS, or from blueprint drawings, or.... I'm always looking to learn, so... Anyway, thanks!

New 3DS XL hand grip - remix

Awesome! I'll be printing one out this week! As for how I modeled it, I measured the outer dimensions of it, made a rectangle with those dimensions, then threw an image of a new 3DS as a decal on one of the surfaces and scaled it to take up the whole space. Used that to line up most things, and get the rounded corner radius. It wasn't perfect, but it got close enough for it to work.

I don't suppose you would be willing to export this as an OBJ file, would you? I printed this last night and, while it is a wonderful design and exactly what I was looking for (my girlfriend kept accidentally hitting the power button - how, I don't know because I have trouble hitting it on purpose) but there are a couple of things I'd like to change. The top clips are a millimeter or two too far from the N3DS for a really snug fit and the cutout for the power button needs to be brought down a couple of millimeters and to the left. Right now, only 3/4 of the button are visible. It's be much easier to do these modifications with the source file instead of the STL. In any event, thank you for saving me the major portion of the work!

Uploaded the most recent one I had. I THINK its the most up to date, but I haven't touched the file in a long time. Hopefully its a good starting point though. Tag me with your remix of it. I'd love to print it out and give it a shot when its done!

Awesome! Thank you. I am printing the new one now.... fingers crossed :) If it goes well, I will post that this weekend.

Hey Zero, I've remixed this twicwith a few comfort changes and to fit the original 3ds xl as well. Unfortunately thingiverse has an extremely buggy website that is preventing me from adding the attribution... I've submitted a bug for it. Sorry :( hopefully it gets sorted out relatively soon.

Got it fixed, Thanks for the awesome model

Both of those look awesome! Gonna have to print one off and check it out!

Any chance you can post the Autodesk Fusion 360 file? I'd love to remix this with some more ergonomic grips without having to go to the trouble of STL import and conversion - thanks!

File is up, let me know if that works for you!

Works perfectly! Thank you so much for creating the design and going out of your way to upload the original source file - I really appreciate it!

No prob, can't wait to see what you do with it!

thank you so much i was getting tired of my hands getting so sore from using it hopful this will help

It helped me a ton! Mario Kart 7 was my biggest reason for designing this thing. My hands would cramp up so fast, even with the cheap ebay grip. Glad you like it!
