these are the best for roleplaying games my friend just keeps on asking for more love the new low poly figs

While I love these characters, the files themselves have a ridiculously high poly count. Every edge has hundreds of tiny polygons, making it very difficult to adjust or repose the character beyond simple scaling. Was this intentional?

Are these figures from the game Polycraft?

Would you be willing to tell us how you designed these? Are there any tutorials you would recommend?

I just modeled them in 3Ds Max. Not sure what to tell you here, I have 10+ years experience in modeling so making them was nothing complex for me. When you search for something like "low poly character modeling" you should find lots of tutorials. To give you some insight: most are started from a box and then lots of vertices pushing around and adding loops. Verts are then welded wherever the mesh can get more low res. They are modeled with symmetry in a T-pose and then rigged and posed. Posing is very tricky when you want to print them without support. So you have to do things like putting a hand on a leg. I also made me a simple shader that would highlight me faces which are angled less then 30 degrees and then pushed verts around again to make those angles better for printing without support. As a last step I took them in Zbrush to merge it all together to one solid mesh. This is important to get thing like a overlapping hand on a leg merged.

Sorry, but not able to get either Makerbot Desktop or TinkerCAD to read the .stl's. If you have some insight that would be great. (Actually, the alliance are the ones with trouble....The Horde seems just fine.)

No clue, other then that the download could have been corrupted. I updated the Swordsman now with a slight improvement, you could just try to download it again.

Awesome, glad to see more of these and hope you have tons more in the hopper! My kids and I are loving these, can't print enough of them lol, keep up the great work!

Just printed them all out at the same time on my printrbot play at 1x scale and they came out beautiful! even the spear/quiver portions look great!

Great Design! I look forward to seeing your future posts.

The ankles are so thin (even at 1.5 scale) and steep angle at the point where they are the only connection to the base, specifically the Troll Spearthrower's right ankle, I get breakage half the time as the FDM nozzle is quickly trying to extrude/retract move across 3 very small areas.

Just some minor model tweaks could get the 3 'legs' to be more stable for printing due to more adhesion points.

Well, they all work for me at 1x scale. Some things you could try: print slower or print several at once so the material has time to get solid. Check if your nozzle height setup is too close to the platform. Do you have the same problem with the Alliance figures?

FYI, only the Orc is manifold, the other two required a quick repair in netfabb.

They are all fixed now, that are the ones with 2 in the name. Thingiverse is kinda broken today that is why there are so many old files now that I can't delete.
