You shoud definitely add a resistor in series with the led. It will wear out soon without it.

3V button cells like the CR2032 have sufficient internal resistance to not require an external resistor. I measured only 4 mA using an LED that is rated at 10.

Clip an IR led on for 2DOF with FreeTrack!

wow i almost spent 100+ dollars on a tracking headset. Im gonna have to remember this!

I made one!
It could do with a hole for an M3 nut at the top, so it could be tightened to fit different glasses.
I drilled mine and lined the drilled-out-hole with a little epoxy, so now I've got a reasonably good M3-tightener. I'll Dremel down an M3 to fit reasonably tomorrow. Then add a 3V cell and an LED for the win!

abs doesnt "bend" so well...If you want it to do that, i just recommend you open up my sketchup file (soon to be attached) and modify it there... i appreciate you making ma' design. Mind posting a pic?

I'd love to, but there's no "I Made One!" option here for some reason. I'm asking about it on the Thingiverse group, but it's a quiet group.

I made this, anyway, and instead of using an M3 I threaded a little tiewrap through the drilled holes to have a springy bit of plastic inside. It clips on perfectly!

Will post a picture when I can say "I made one", just to do things properly. ;) Also, I've no 3V battery. Do you recommend using only Green/Yellow LEDs with that voltage, or is any colour ok?

Any color is ok, but i only TESTED green...as long as your LED can handle 3 volts then you should be ok. Also i figured out that my license was messed up! Once i fix it you should be able to click on the "i made one" button!
