Most importantly, where did you get all those bits?

I did a little research, I think one company that sells 4mm hex drivers with retention balls is Facom:

I think I posted a link on my original variant.
however these are just standard 4mm hex driver bits that are available on ebay, aliexpress, or jaycar dealers... or pretty much anywhere.

They don't have the captive ball like the victorinox ones, so they slack around a little, but a tiny (relly tiny) bit of blu-tac inside the holder helps.

It's a bit of a hack job I know, but loads more useful that going without on the remote sites I find myself servicing at times.
