I have a friend building a 1 to 1 scale Ark as a prop. He was wondering if I could help him by printing certain parts, so I was wondering if you could help out with the source files so I can scale up and cut them up into printable and interlocking parts.

The cherubs are the part i assume you want to cut.
what size do you want to make them?

I want to ask if you can make me a design of what I think the real Ark of the covenant looks like? And where I can the pic of it to you,That I can print on my Anet A8 printer. My email is deanconness@yahoo.com

I honestly don't know what size the 1:1 scale would be. I was hoping that maybe you'd share the source so I could play around with it in my editor of choice. He has since pointed out that they aren't movie accurate anyway... so not sure what we'll do next.
My printer has a max 200x200x200 build so anything we do will need to be broken down considerably and probably used to make a mould.

no mine are not movie accurate for sure
I can give as .obj or whatever.
I am guessing the object of interest is the are the 'angels'

I'd love the OBJ, that would be really handy. Yes, the main area of interst is the Angels

I added a OBJ of just the angel

I have a pic of the real one or I should say a of the Ark Israel has found the real one and I have a drawing of it.

I wish Thingiverse would notify of replies... I omnly just realised you had responded. So thankyou!

This model might inspire me to get some gold leaf and learn gilding :)

I've sliced this thing up for printing with minimal support. Will post finished thing when I'm done.

I sliced off the Cherubs so I could print them separately with support then I sliced the remaining lid in half so no support there. I then sliced off the feet so I could print the main box without support and the feet separately.

If you'd like I can make a derivative with the slices I've made.

thanks,

My test print was a epic failure!
the railing around the 'angels' was frail
the support material under the angels was a nightmare.
the big box for some reason seperated at the top (maybe it was too thin?)
if your remodel works great. I am more inclined to leave it in your hands
unless you need/want me to do something 'arcane'

I just posted my derivative which is just different slices of your model. So far everything has come out pretty nice. I printed the Cherubs separate but with "exterior" support and they came out ok. When I print them again I'll make sure to use 0 shells because there was a little separation under the wings.

Everything else I've printed with 2 extra shells and 10% infill. I'm really happy how it is coming out.

Once again I would like to thank you for spending the time designing this thing for me.

This wasn't actually my idea after I printed out the "idol" you designed for me I gave a copy to a friend of mine and he suggested the Ark.

Once again excellent work! I'll have to give it a print and see how it goes.

Thanks for taking the time to design this. I'm sure people are going to love it.

It does look like getting the support material out from the cherubim might be a challenge though.

You could separate the cherubim from the lid. Would allow for simpler support removal.

Yeah i thought about that.
I personally like to make things in a single "plate"
to allow for simpler scaling.
I'll post some split up for those who would like to do it in pieces

MacGyver actualy split it up, i have the link above.

Hi I am checking to see if you got the pics I sent to you, I was having problems with sending my emails to you!

got pics, am on a vacation right now.
will see when I have time to make this model. it is not a simple model.
might need to put off for a while.
