I printed the R2D2 .BUTat 120% and it came out really nice

what are the instructions to put this together need help

Are supports required anywhere on the body of this model? Please provide some basic printing guidelines for a successful print, you would be helping all of us!!

UM, You know you can get taken down by lucas film because there was a different but similar to this r2d2 file and it is currently becing taken down by disney and lucasfilm.

Has anyone used Supports?

Are your source files the ones from grabcab?

i used their source and made an "amazon echo dot r2d2" out of this.
here is the result: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=drU3PT7r5bw

Any way you could send me the 3d models, I would like to modify it and put motors in it so it can move, with a controller

I love R2D2, I am getting slicing error on body stl file, on some of our makerbot 3D printer, But I did get it to work on one of our two Makerbot Mini 3D printers. So I have orange body but white everything else. LOL

Thanks Adela

just what i need perfect !!!!!

is this print moveable? i want to know if id be able to turn the head or anything like that?

What is the total default hieght of this print complete and glued together?

It printed well. A few things were hard to print like the LH and RH feet but it came out ok.

I have tried several times to print the left and right foot. I tried the original files and the "fixed" files. The raft prints fine, and usually the first couple of layers. But then there is a misprint and a lot of filament is wasted. Do you have a fix? I was able to print everything else fabulously, but R2 has no feet!

How big does my printer need to be to print this? And about how long does it take to print?

With an unmodified file, not big. The biggest part (body) is about 55 mm tall and 45 mm wide. It would take a little less than 7 hrs to print with a few pieces at 0.1 mm height.

Its beginning to look amazing
I have stuffed inside a mini projector and added a couple of lights.
Its home drying the glue but soon i will give it a coat of paint and it will be finished.
I have added an iphone 4 inside to play star war message to Princess leia like in the movie.
You model is fantastic.

I would suggest checking the connection between the foot to the leg there is very little 'meat' to make these two meet nicely.
I had planned to have a motor to drive the front wheel but for now i will do that at another time.
check the photos i have been adding as I have been printing them.
Again thankyou , you have given me heaps of tinkering time!!

How big is your Print area? I have an 8" cube build space and was wondering just how big I can scale this beauty.
Right now I"m waiting on a replacement Thermocouple...

I tried opening the ipt files in Inventor Fusion on this new Macbook Pro and the files cause the app to hang. Is this a compatibility issue? Could you convert the Inventor files to something compatible?

When you print the feet or dome are they mostly hollow? I would like to use these for a R2 build I am working on but if they are solid I could not figure out how to hollow them out.

you can adjust your infill settings on your slicer to use 0% infill, what slicer do you use?

This would be fantastic if its wheels were powered by two standard hobby servos

That's the bauty of open source, if someone wants to use my files to do that they can :)
