if you print it with the large flat side down you can insert the nuts at 80%

hmmm, They don't list the file types any more. I guess I'll port it over to Blender and mod it there.

you can check your gcode with a program like pleasant3D and note where the end of the nut is in the layers then go back to the gcode editor (repg, etc) and add in that pause at the correct layer. no guesswork at all

If you insert a tool change, you can pause and move the table to the end, say Y200, insert the nut and hit resume. This is common on Mach3 and other programs running cnc mills. Of course, you would need to hand edit the Gcode.

printing this now, for an M6 nut, we'll see how it goes... It's a shame that gcode is non-portable, and you can't put the pause instruction in the stl. It'd be good if host software could pause at a certain height, then you could just enter that per-model.

Does your printer not understand the M226 G-Code Command "Pause"?

Simply insert that into the g-code at the correct location.

I like the thinking! Have you encased anything else besides a hex nut?

Glad you like it. This is the first thing I've ever done with something embedded during the print. I think it could be useful for a number of applications though. There is a G code for pause, so I've been looking at incorporating that into the G-code so I don't have to watch it.
