I know this is older but what about reversing them?, instead of having the motor on the carriage putting the track on it and letting the motor pull it back and forth

Rack and Pinion for Prusa - Beltless

I did a lot of experimentation with a "shuttle" based system where the motor propels itself along a track, similar to this design. The main problem is the additional weight of the motor slows your overall movement speed because of the slower acceleration and deceleration.

Sorry. I think pieces are for NEMA 16 . 31mm distance between scrwes.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
