I am looking for that bit that ties the horizontal threaded rod, the Z-axis smooth and threaded rods all together. I can design one, but this looks like the ticket. I will be using the feet. Thanks!

@trebhill, could you please post the bracket for the z-axis bearing connecting the frame and the smooth rod. Just like Schlem I can't find it here on thingiverse. Thanks.

Couldn't find one, so I designed one: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:109833http://www.thingiverse.com/thi...

There are RepRapizens who take issue with trying to constrain the free end of the lead screw - they assert that it actually induces Z wobble. If so, I'd suggest that you have bogus Z screws- get some straight ones.

Suggestion: add a feature to the top half that allows it to be secured to the rod via zip tie or another method so it's fixed to the printer during moving/transport etc.

I have been looking for something like this, thank you. great design!

can you upload an scad of this? would like an SAE version. thanks!

thanks trebhill. it wasn't quite what i needed for my parts, but perhaps these are the right bits for some other user.

With some heating of the nuts, some drilling, and a little creative rearrangement of the order the parts, I was able to make a foot using #6-32 x 1" screws and the appropriate nuts. These are what's 'left' over from the SAE Prusa built which is convenient. The nuts are .3" or 7.8mm so they don't fit snug in your top or bottom. The 5/6" rod is close to 8mm so I had to drill out the top part a bit - it was a touch shallow for this operation,

I can make a version for #6 hardware if you like. Let me know and I'll whip it up.

that would be great!

I was just looking at http://mcmastercarr.commcmastercarr.com and it seems that #6 screws only come in screw heads, no hex heads. So I can't simply change the hex sizes for that hardware, the top piece needs a hex head to hold on to.

I modeled this in Solidworks so I don't have a .scad file for you. I will upload an SAE version.

This is much better than the blocks I use under mine.... If you don't have anything supporting your Z smooth rods on your reprap, I highly recommend you try out these. Or if you are too lazy, try some blocks out..... you will be downloading these feet soon after!

Thanks for turning me on to the idea of support in the first place Renosis!
