I am looking to have these pieces cut but the people I chose to cut them for me have no way of opening .EPS files. They need it in .DXF format. I've been looking for a program to convert them but kind of striking out. Any advice?

Where were the x,y, and z limit switches mounted at

Hi, the size you provided in the file doesn't match my measurement. For example the left panel, the size is 398.97 by 378.7mm and the measurement on my printer is 374 by 355mm. I'm assuming we are both using the original design provided by josonatepaint. Do I need to change the dimensions? Thanks.

I was having similar problems but when I opened eps files in CorelDRAW X6 they were gone

I don't remember what I did. I think I actually changed the dimension and also modified the drawing. Trust your own measurement and software.

Just put these walls on my UM2 clone and I love them. Can you recommend a spool holder to match up with the cut-out you included in the back panel?

Did you make any changes in dimensions to fit your printer?

I designed a close copy of the um2 original spool holder. Just never cleaned up the design. So never posted it.

Thanks for posting these lions3. I was having issues with ABS warping and these panels help a lot! I've also posted an alternative top enclosure (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1259586) as well as door hinges and knob (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1259626) for use with your front door panel. Hope that it is helpful :)

great work on both. I hadn't thought about using the slots in the top to hold the top enclosure. I created something that looks similar to encase the top. But mine has a flat bottom. I haven't shared it yet, as I still need to laser cut one change.

As to the hinge and knob. Love it. I have my own hinge i've been testing but it needs work and i've been distracted with other projects. I might just try yours instead.

First, let me say thank you for this! I have always wanted an enclosed printer, and this will make it possible.

Have you changed the top piece so it works with other extruder designs? I want to use jasonatepaint's direct drive extruder, and ponoko has a black friday sale on laser cutting...

How long would you estimate it took to cut all the pieces. Also do you know of any online websites or people who would be willing to get this cut for me as I don't belong to any maker spaces? Thanks.

I cut everything in one evening. The longest part is etching the Ultimaker robot and logo. Cutting itself only took maybe an hour.

Not sure of any online solutions for cutting services. But since you're profile is San Diego you should be able to find something local. Maybe even post an ad on craigslist? If that doesn't work let me know. Maybe we can work something out where I cut the acrylic on my next visit to Techshop.

Thanks for the reply. I will do some shopping around locally. What do you think a fair price to look for is both including and not including the material. Btw what thickness material did you use? Thanks

Not sure on a fair price since I haven't had to outsource the cutting. For the materials I used 5 sheets of 3mm acrylic and they were probably $8 to $10 a piece.

Very nicely done. I was wondering which hinges do you plan on using?

Yeah, when I have time i'm planning to modify this basic hinge design for my enclosure http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:767741

This makes the printer look very nice. It mixes the refinement of the UM2 with the cool industrial look of the clone. When I finish my build i will definitely be using this. Is your bottom plate laser cut as well? I did not see it in the files.

Thanks! Just remember to buy some drop-in tslot nuts. They make adding the enclosure a million times easier. (I found some cheap on ebay)

Yeah, the bottom plate is actually included in the files that jasonatepaint included with the UM2 clone files (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:811271)

Very well done. How much in materials do you estimate having invested in this build? I really like the design or the UM printer. The mechanics are great in their design. Did you already have a UM2 that you just made a custom case for? Looks very sturdy and having the door is a great idea. Nice job. Love to make one myself.

Total material cost? Sorry, I don't know off hand. I've spread out the cost over many months. Plus I reused any existing parts I had available and printed whatever I could.

My other printer is a Mendel90. This new one is based off of the design by jasonatepaint (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:811271). It used a real UM2 bed but the rest was ordered or built piece by piece.
