Carbon Fiber tubes from eBay might be good here. I see several sizes.

I'm new to dlsr video shooting. I don't understand how the follow focus works....

This looks just what I'm looking for. All the big hardware stores here (UK) have 16mm tube rather than 15mm.

Hi there! I also have a Velbon DV 7000 pan head. Best thing I have ever bought! Unfortunately I don't have very accurate measurements of it so I can re-produce it for other applications. Could you somehow tell me the measurements that you used so I can adapt it for things like a dolly, etc.?

This would be great if it were a more standard size. I can't even find tubing to fit this project here in the US. Not even online. Too bad it's worthless to me.

Did you ever find a project with more standard tubing for the US?

After an extensive search i found that in US/CAN the common dimensions for metal broom/mop handle (22mm) and a standard curtain rod (17mm) from most stores. So with some fines and sanding ya should be able to make it out of those items. Hope that helps someone out there

I like your focus follower, nice way to keep the hands on the grips. Might just have to give this one a whirl.

Very Nice.

Interesting idea for the grip_clamps.

Why 16mm and 20mm when 15mm is the standard here?

It would be interesting to see the failed designs too, to learn from it. :)

the reason for 16mm are the tubes in my local store. they only had 16mm.

What lens did you use for your display-viewfinder?

"I found an old plastic lens in my toolbox that works for me. I put it in front of my eye and i had a sharp view on the display with a distance of about 6 cm."

every cheap plastic magnifier lens can do this job. :)

the inner diameter of the viewfinder is 28mm

the thing that is missing is that movie where you demonstrate how handy it is?

I appreciate you probably have a lot of work in this, but I'd think this is awfully complicated for making porn flicks ;) :-[

its very handy and lightweight. i used longer griptubes because with short ones i got backaches. the weight of the rig is only about 600g.
