ok i see now..the magnets make this a 2 way locator....i hope my calipers arent stainless steel lol....very good idea if it actually works...i dont like drilling and tapping holes in machines unless no other way...this is a great non destructive method

this will only give you a return location and not the location towards the chuck correct?

would this be z axis?

Thanks for this, not sure if it will fit my 10x14 lathe but if not I'll find a way to make it work.

What is the scale you used? 11.7 up scale is what I did for a Grizzly 8688 7x12 Mini Lathe. It seemed pretty square on either side of the rail way but had a gap above and below. That's why I did the remix and if you get bored or improve upon this yourself, you should give that ToFe guy's model that clamps over the rail a shot since it's solid in there and can support itself.

It's fun hackin other ideas and shimmin in your own huh? :D

I scaled up to 10, but I haven't calibrated my platform in about 2 years. Its great learning form how others will change our designs.
