Hey, I'm Jake, and 3D printing is my favorite hobby. I really like solving problems, so I get a lot of satisfaction from 3D printing because while it comes with challenges of its own, it also enables a lot of solutions to everyday problems. :D
After spending a lot of my free time over the past 3 years slicing models in Cura, making models in SketchUp, and printing plastic things on a Printrbot Simple Metal, I think I've gotten an intuitive feel for the 3D printing process. Specifically, I really know what my printer will actually output given the settings of the slicer. It's a bit of a steep learning curve just getting good prints of proven models let alone going from a blank modeling window to a solid object in real life, but it's well worth it to be able to make an idea in your head into a tangible, usable object in the same day.
