Full Scale Stormtrooper Helmet (wearable)
Made by number10ox, uploadedDescription
This is an incredibly fun build. So much so, that I printed a second.
I met all my neighbors during the outdoor painting. Most were shocked that it is a 3D print.
Now that it is complete (almost - I still need to paint the blue stripes), it is the best mask for Zoom meetings.
I've included some pics of the build & paint processes.
Thank the maker - Geoffro!!!

can i print this in one piece?
i have a ender 3 pro and i`m new
Hi,
I have a CR-10S with a 300300400 build area.
I use Cura and spent some time spinning it around on the build plate looking for a fit.
I could not find a way to position it on the build plate to print this in one piece at 100%.
does it fit your head... if so what size is your head and what did you scale your print too thanks
I printed at 100%. Yes, it fits my head.
I use furniture foam to pad the inside of the helmet.
I have a smaller head (55cm), but added more foam padding. With the padding, it fits nice and snug.
I think it would fit people with larger heads, they would just use less padding.
Brilliant thanks for the reply.. do you have any tips on this build im using an ender 3 v2 just got it last week so any advice would be greatly appreciated. how much filament did you use.
I made the helmets a while back. I don't think they used a full spool of filament (to print 2 of them). I'm sorry I don't remember this, as I was printing a bunch of other stuff, too.
I use a CR-10, so very similar to your ender 3. I did the 16 part print.
I printed at .3 and did lots of sanding and filling to create an incredibly smooth finish.
To give an idea on the timeline:
I started printing on Nov 24 and had all the pieces completed by the 28th.
I glued it all on Dec 4. and filled and sanded until Dec 15. Dec 15-20 was painting.
The picture with the 2 helmets (one complete, one white green and gray) was taken on Dec 21
Pay extra attention to the seams along the center of the face.
I glued the left half of the face, then the right half. Take extra care to ensure the horizontal seams line up or you'll have extra hours of filling and sanding.
Then I connected the 2 halves of the face by completing the rear of the helmet, first.
The center front seam was the last face seam I glued.
I ended with gluing the helmet dome onto the face construction. This was the only place I used epoxy (5 minute). This gave me time to get it all lined up and clamped down. All other gluing was with CA.
I hope this info helps.
I look forward to seeing your updates and final results.
thanks again will be hopefully setting my prints away today and hopefully have something by next week :-)
