MakerBot Print is our newest print-prepration software, which supports native CAD files and STL assemblies,
allows you to interact with all your printers via the Cloud, and many other exciting new features.
I hope it works for you.
Did you print the Starter?
And I like your color scheme for the engine. If I do it again, I would go a similar direction, except maybe using silk silver filament for the heads and the intake manifold.
Also, where did you get the transmission?
It works great! I ran out of gray filament, so I'm waiting to print the starter.
I got the base trans part here https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2940612, but modeled the shifter and knob myself https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:4144003 . I scaled the trans up 142.5%, I maybe could have gone a bit bigger, but it looked close enough to me.
It did take a LOT of filament and print time, but it sure impresses my friends.
Eric has a option for threaded inserts to attach the block to his stand. Did you use them to attach the transmission?
Yah, I've gotten a lot of good feedback from it so far. I used the 4 holes in the block and too of the trans and drilled them out to 4mm and glued in some leftover magnets to hold it on.
The transmission is on my list. But I have a big project right now, that I have to get through. I'll let you know when I get it done. Thanks, Steve
Awesome, let me know if you want to see any more detail on how/where I put the magnets.
If you could post a couple of pictures here of what the block and transmission interfaces look like. I'd appreciate it. Thanks, Steve
