Super sized ;) Proto-pasta candy apple red HTPLA and gold dust HTPLA.
Where did you get that tail piece? It does not look like it's from the original design.
My remake: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3509494
Since you made it 2x big in dimensions, do you think it made the assembly easier? also do you know what the diameter of the eyes are in your 2x version or the original version?
I'm not sure if it was easier to assembly or not as I never printed the original sized version. I would say that it was hard enough to get the smaller pieces to fit together properly at 2x size, so I imagine it being even more difficult at the smaller size. However, the largest pieces on the 2x version were the most difficult, so overall It's probably averages out to about the same.
how many pieces of #18 do you have? 10?
I stopped at 11.
I just keep coming back to look at your dragon. Such a beautiful print. And great posing. I just love it so much. I'm still printing the body, and slowly putting it together. some of my spines didn't turn out quite as clean as yours and has some gooping or pull away as it finishes.
how did you keep the eyes in place?
The eyes are simply glued into place. You can place a wedge in the gap between the eyeballs to make them positionable, but I didn't have much luck with this. Moving one eye would change the position of the other and it was really frustrating. I think in order for the eyes to be reliably positionable the sockets in the skull need to be remodeled.
omg. I want one! How much HTPLA did you use? (understanding it is 8x the 100% sized)
It ended up being about 5 rolls, so a little over 2.5kg. I could have probably cut down on infill to save some filament, but I was concerned that the ball joints wouldn't scale very well...and indeed on the largest segments I did experience a break at the neck of one of the ball joints. So I printed all of the largest pieces at 20% with 4 perimeters and the smaller ones at 15% with 2 perimeters.
What's your scale?
I increased all dimensions x2, so it's 8 times the original volume.
Best use of shiny red pla.
absolutely a work of art!
