For this project I used 12x 5mm white LEDs with 3V forward voltage in parallel, each one with a 100Ω resistor, and a potentiometer on the end. The power supply is a 5V USB plug.
The potentiometer gives some brightness control, but a 3V LED will not start to shine until there is a good current across it.
The colors come from tempera paint crumbs I ground up and mixed in with the resin I poured to make the gems after casting a latex negative from the stones' positives after they came out of the printer.
Printed in PLA, CR-10S, .4mm nozzle, .2mm layers, base coat black, undercoat copper, and a dusting of gold spraypaint. highlights are show polish wiped and spray ultra cover.
I used the fixed solid thumb in the bent position, there's still enough room inside for the wearer to hide their proper thumb against the palm in a comfortable leather work glove. The fingers are flexible in theory and are mounted on top of the leather glove fingers, with leather exposed on the bottoms of the fingers. If you want to do this the simple way, print it with solid fingers. The hand feels comfy inside the lining of the work glove, and it looks good, but there's almost no freedom of movement.
