MakerBot Print is our newest print-prepration software, which supports native CAD files and STL assemblies,
allows you to interact with all your printers via the Cloud, and many other exciting new features.
This is my very first printer build. I have followed the instructions from DaHai8 very carefully although I decided to go with the 300³ version.
Before I start, I'd like to say big thanks to DaHai8 for putting all thee fantastic videos and instructions! Thank you!
In the here below sections, I will provide my lessons learned as well as technical details that helped me throughout the build.
My learnings might be considered as basics by some, but the intent here is to help anybody that starts with a first build.
Part 1 - Building the Frame
Get your extrusions cut to length.
Unless you have proper metal cutting equipment and you know what you are doing, it is crucial that you order your pieces already cut to length. This will ensure the squareness of the the extremities and allow* you to build a straight and rigid frame. * I say "allow", because there are many factors that will determine how straight and how square your frame is. Keep reading to knwo them ;)
Buy additional harware quantities upfront ...to be continued...
Part 2 & 3 - X and Y axis
Before you tight all screws
Part 4 - Z axis assembly
Ensure straighness of everything before securing screws for good.
