That turned out superbly! Thanks for posting your results!
NICE COLOR CHANGES, I HAVE HAD SUCCESS AND FAILURES DOING MID PRINT SWITCHES. NICE:D
Why are you yelling?
Woooow... that is beautiful. How did you achieve the coloring?
Thanks! The Up/Afinia has a "Pause Print" feature for filament changes. It lowers the bed a couple of inches and keeps the extruder hot while you change. You can set automatic pause points prior to slicing if you want to, but in this case I just watched the print and did it manually.
whoa! good idea!
Yah Repetier host has a pause also but found if you move the x y slightly u kill the print/: nice job with yours though(:
The Up's steppers are kept energized pretty strongly, so you'd have to really whack the print head hard to disturb the alignment I think.
My Ultimaker has a similar feature, I haven't actually used it yet. It is great for color changes like this. Can also be used to add an external object in the middle of the model. Things like magnets, tumbler in a whistle, or other permanently embedded goodies.
Printed on an Afinia, with almost no support, and what there was popped off effortlessly. What a great, easy-to-print model, thanks!
