Mami Tomoe is one of my all time favorite fictional characters. She's helped me get through some tough times, and I was absolutely thrilled when I found this file.
138 hours of printing on my Anet A8, with Repko PLA in white, 30% infill 210 C. The small yellow gems are Hatchbox Translucent Yellow, 100% infill, 220 C. When I printed this, my printer had some bad z wobble, and that shows in the print.
I pegged and glued together the parts with epoxy and wood dowels. after it was glued, sanded the whole thing 3 times, then sealed and sanded an additional 3 more times. After sealing, I used Automotive Spray Primer, and sanded it down, and repeated that twice. (Thats 9 hours of sanding for everyone keeping track at home.)
I then used white spray paint as a base coat. After 2 coats and some sanding, I started using Rustolium Pearl Mist paint. In the process of drying, the gun fell and broke. I used Shoo Goo and pegs to glue it back together again, and there are visible defects in the prop where that happened.
After fixing that mishap, I continued with the Rustolium, and put about 7 layers of paint on to get the opacity I wanted.
I then masked off some of the areas, and used Fairy Chalk Mother brand chalk paint, in the color Gunmetal, and painted 2 layers of paint where needed, and prepped for the silver areas. I used Americana metallic silver acrylic enamel for the silver details and barrel.
I am still missing that small detail under the barrel, but I'll add pictures when I get that added.
I lost track of how many hours I spent on this. At least 80 hours or so.
It's my biggest 3d printing project so far, and I'm happy with how it came out.
