I have to state it somewhere: I'm not happy with my handling of the creases, but that's all on me!
I added two small RGB leds controlled by a microcontroller, and printed some clear covers with PETG to act as light pipes and diffusers.

I finished it with a large mix of different techniques, as this is my first full helmet and I'm still figuring out in what order to do certain steps, and what has the desired effect.
Printed mostly between 45 and 55mm/s. Used supports on the needed parts as noted already by the creator.
I've a question for you now. How did you friction weld the pla? It would be a technique I would like to try.

Thx a lot Jimmy. No, I got 0 arduino experience. Is it still possible to achieve it then or will it get to complicated to make for a total arduino newbie
In my opinion it's a perfect little project to get you into Arduino IF you're interested in this type of stuff. Since the color doesn't change you could technically order some green leds and hook them up to a switch much easier. But, I had this stuff lying around, and I do like the flexibility of being able to program the exact brightness and RGB color via code instead of constantly fiddling with resistors and the like to get everything just right.
Man that's so cool, I was reading about your creases, and really there is some good ways to get rid of them. I used to putty them up but really, friction welding seems to be the go now. You place a small piece of filament in your dremell. .and you use the plastic as a drill piece (I use ABS as it sands much better than PLA) You create small circular motions over the crease with the dremel whizzing away with the small filament (like 1cm) as your demel's tool. The plastic heats with friction and acts like a welder basically. This creates a solid bond you can sand down to an invisible seam.
So I use friction welding to piece everything together on the interior but didn't think to use it for the outside.
Are you saying you use ABS even on a PLA print or use ABS for the whole thing?
I'm strongly considering printing two of the top pieces again on Monday with ABS and trying the whole ABS slurry thing and brushing with acetone afterwards - the other person that just printed your helmet used ABS and the seams are non-existent to the eye.
In other news, would it be okay to post a remix with (just) my light pipes/diffusers in case anyone else wants to light up the helmet?
