did you paint that gold on?
Yes I painted it before I assembled it. I used an adhesion promoter to make the gold paint stick the plastic.
awesome print. What printer and parameters did you use?
I printed this using RepG with .25 layer height in ABS plastic. 10% infill.
That's a great print.
Thanks! It did come out pretty good. I'm not experimenting with Simply 3D to see if I can get even better prints out of my Thing-O-Matic.
I gave up pretty quick on S3D - got great profiles in makerware and despite its many issues, it is free afterall... keep me posted!
Unfortunately Makerware doesn't support Thing-O-Matics so I'm stuck with RepG (which I've had much success with) or S3D (which I've a couple of excellent prints but it's buggy. I printed the Scarab with RepG but I think I can do better if I can figure out the quirks of S3D.
Can't help you there I am afraid... but good luck with it!
I've uploaded a new version of the drawer file. Thanks for pointing this out to me.
Excellent! When I print this thing again I'll be sure to get that file.
Looks great, thumbs up
That is immaculate! Lovely print and paint job. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for creating such cool things! I did add a shim under the drawer so it had a little tension on it so it wouldn't fall open. Other than that everything printed great and assembled without any modification.
Yes - I was wondering whether that problem would crop up. Did you incorporate it into the model itself or add an extra piece?
I discovered it was too loose after I assembled it so I cut up a business card that I had printed and slipped it in under the drawer and very carefully put a tiny bit of superglue to hold in place. It's working pretty well.
Thank you very much - you always give valuable feedback. I design these models on my own and sometimes you can't see the wood for the trees:-)
