Welcome! New Members
SelfCAD is a browser-based 3D modeling software that allows one to model, sculpt and print all under one program. It has answered the need for a more advanced but easier to learn CAD/CAM program hence ideal for users who are inexperienced like the students and also professional designers who want to create advanced models.
It's only $4.99/m for general users but if you are a student or teacher contact us email@example.com to get access to a 2-year free license.
Visit our site to start designing today, https://www.selfcad.com.

This group is a place to discuss all things related to SelfCAD including (but not limited to) new features, Setting up 3D printing in the Classroom, modeling techniques, questions, works in progress, etc. Come share knowledge, get constructive feedback, and ask questions.
When you join, kindly share your designs made in SelfCAD with this group's Things and I'll feature awesome Things. And if your design is featured we may request you to show us how you made it so that other members may have a set of reference designs to learn from.
I have made 6 holes in a plate and then these grooves appear. I have seen this more than once. Image attached.
Also I tried many times to cut 6 holes but it would only do five at a time.
Anyone else see this and will it show in the final print?
Also after doing a disk clean on my computer ALL my files were missing. This is a huge problem. They could at least tell you where they all stored so you could back them up.
UPDATE: Although I haven't put SelfCAD through all the rigors from my previous tests (and I still haven't tried out the slicer on a 3D printer),the primary issue I was demonstrating in my screenshots has been resolved.
UPDATE TO UPDATE And then I tried again to have a screencap to post on my Blogger update... and I'm having the same manifold issue. It's the PNG file labeled "bottomholemesh". I tried two different workarounds, one using the "magic fix" tool. Neither one worked out. I've sent off those screenshots and I'm simply done right now. It feels like I'm back to square one.
I'm beginning to regret my annual license because sometime between my free trial and now, something's gone horribly wrong with SelfCAD's ability to process simple geometry.
Not only did a simple subtraction result in half of my mesh disappearing, but attempting to undo it caused and error that made me have to start all over again.
I took two shapes and merged them in union (via Stitch and Scoop), then tried to put a small recessed hole in the bottom using a cylinder and the difference tool.
The result was catastrophic.
When I reported this error before, the advice I got from SelfCAD was to use the "Add Thickness" tool after the cylinder was subtracted. This did not fill the volume as suggested. Rather, it thickened the shell and caused more of the mesh to disappear.
I could understand there being a step to the process I'm missing, something I need to do with the merged mesh from the first two shapes, but even the advice given by the support team doesn't match up with what should be a simple subtraction.
