MakerBot Print is our newest print-prepration software, which supports native CAD files and STL assemblies,
allows you to interact with all your printers via the Cloud, and many other exciting new features.
Get all the models files from youmagine.com and then simply edit it in a program of your choice. I am am trying this with the 1401 model. I simply copy and paste the newer model measurements onto my printrbot files. So far so good. If that all fails they have the upgrade kit too!
There's also the 'finger flobber" which fits over the tensioner arm of the metal alu extruder; I didn't make this, but it's a verra nice bit o work: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:446480
Shameless plug for my fan shroud: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:356001
Wraps around the hotend for more even cooling. Prints with no support and can be installed fresh off the bed with the original hardware!
I did have to run to the hardware store for some longer M3 screws, but that was well worth it.
Previous to these upgrades, the Y-axis wiring was drooping down to the print bed. For large values of X and Y, the wiring could scrape the object being printed.
I love my extruder handle upgrade. The extra handle on the bottom is a big plus and small minus. The minus part is it is in the way for some fan guards I wanted to try. :D
The first roll of filament I purchased after the small amount you get with your Printrbot was enormous! I looked around Thingiverse for a solution and found this:
Printed out the base, quick trip to Vans and Home Depot for hardware and voila, it works like a charm. I did a 13 hour print on Saturday and was able to walk away without babysitting the filament. The skateboard bearings are a genius idea.
Hey all!
Have you found any good enhancements for a Printrbot Simple Metal?
This one is amazing and works great: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:507944
This one I haven't tried to attach yet, but it's made for the old wooden model, so not sure if it will fit mine: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:258459
Thanks!

I have made a couple of mods to my PB SM 1403. 1.) E3D-V6 hotend. 2.) Solid state power supply. 3.) Spool holder for my spools of PLA.

This is a thumbpiece for the aluminum extruder, which I think is standard on the Metal Simple:http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:217012

Hi!
This cable management clip is really slick. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:620627
This fan cover gives your fans a little bling. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:261115

I also like this spool holder, since I have the aluminum carry handle installed. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:604386
