I am open to requests to design specific musical instruments. Any ideas/suggestions are very welcome.
I would really like to make a theremin!
A pianica would be fun; making the reeds would be tedious.
How about an accordion.
Let's make a melodica.
How about a 3d printed mouthpiece for a trumpet?
Looks like a few of those already exist.
Hey, thanks for pointing that out!
I think a Kalimba would be doable!
That's a good idea. I am very busy but will see what I can do
Snare drum for sure. There's a lack of percussion!
Possibly a guitar would be awesome!
Acoustic, Classical or Electric?
There are already four 3D printable electric guitar models (mostly bodies) on Thingiverse:http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:478982http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:493550http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:352349http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:273698
One pseudo "classical":http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:486731
And no steel stringed acoustics. Steel stringed acoustics might be too hard to 3D print for a few reasons (too large, too much string tension, etc.) A 3/4 scale might be doable, however.
Currently, I am finishing up designs/prototypes for an electric clavichord, mandolin, small zither, and a novel 4 stringed guitar/hurdy gurdy hybrid instrument.
