RC Nautilus

by Qayin

It’s been 30 years since I have been anything with RC and mostly with planes which after I built them and try to fly them I promptly crashed them. I now build mostly display models and don’t really have the time to do anything with RC. However, I noticed when I posted my model of a tug on thingiverse a lot of RC people downloaded it. I’m almost already to post a model of Ron Miller’s Nautilus and I tried to design it with RCers in mind. Before I do I would like some suggestions on how to improve my design for the RC community. I have posted some pictures of the design so you can see what have done. The model is about 25 inches long when completed and one of these days I’ll get around to figuring out the scale. Thank you.

Rc Heli fuselage

by scousethief

NoSo winters here BRrrrrrrrrr! Time to find something to occupy the old walnut, on the wall are a new gt250 heli and my trusty Ark X450. Found myself a decent 3D model of a heli and started chopping and changing the file to suit the helis i have. Tried a test print today at 25% and was impressed with the result (if a little rough due to the diminutive size and some other constraints) basically the fuse is hollow with 2 or 3 walls (hopefully 2 but 3 for the test) and some strategically positioned supports and mounts to hold the heli in place as well as a few extra bits just for fun.
Essentially the finished product will be a 6 or 8 piece print, tough enough to handle a few smacks but light enough that it doesnt be come a hoverinv shelf queen.

Let the fun begin..........

Ifi dog with 3 walls it will be a solid wall outer honeycombed middle and solid/supporting inner

Tell me a little about yourself.
I'll start.
I'm a CNC programmer/Machinist for a local machine shop.
Before becoming a machinist, I was a welder in a fab/light production shop.
And before that I was a real pain in the ass, always getting in trouble.

I enjoy problem solving, and learning about science, physics, and how the world works.

I feel fortunate to be alive right now because, with the emergence of cheap 3D printers, "Free thinking" tinkers are going to dream, and print, world changing ideas, and gadgets.

The next big thing won't be made by corporations, but by small groups of people with 3D printers... Wild times!
