LeapFrog Creatr 2H bed stability improvement

by andyfox

bed alu frame modification. No printable parts, mechanic work with metal (mostly aluminium) only.
LeapFrog Creatr has serious problem with stability and deformation of bed/alu frame under it. Here is my attempt to solve this problems. All problems with stability (except precision of Z home) on my LeapFrog Creatr fly away after this modification. It seems to me I know how to solve Creatr's problem with unstable Z home position (If I right it 'll take about half an hour and less then USD/EUR 10 if you have equipment), but now I have no time to do that. Sorry, I have no time to write long and explain basic things, but I'll answer on questions about my constructon if somebody 'll interested it. Now photos only. http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1499075

The first thing to do when getting a creatr.

by teneopreto

Hi as a massive user (abuser) of 3d printers i want to point out that Creatr printers have some major veaknesses.

So if you own one you schould use the initial lifespan of the printer (mine died after only 80 hours) to uppgrade your printer with propper bearings stable bearing blocks, new exstruder and a filament feed system.

If you use the initial lifespan of the printer out of the box, you will end up with a printer that will serve you well for years.

I have over 2500 hours on mine after making the uppgrades, with zero down time.

These are the most common faults. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uQmJDHcsWI

PS: These types of problems are not unique to Leapfrog. Most 3d printers in the home user segment are crapp, close to garbage. Creatr is actually one of the better options.
