i have a kossel XL 3d printer and i whant to upgrade it to a z-probe. only the problem is
When i googgle it i get a lot of links.
but when i try some things nothing works..
So i hope that some hear can help my.
My setup of the 3d printer is
Ramps 1.4 with dvr8825.
marlin firmware 1.0
You can try precision-piezo. I used a ir probe. But the piezos are really better...
My opinion on the delta is that you need to probe_Z only very sporadically when calibrating the table after construction changes. Then you almost forget that you have it.
Any additives on the printhead increase its mass and may cause print deterioration. In addition, it is an overgrowth of form over the content, like a fixed roof rack on a passenger car.
That's why I followed the rule - simple the best - and I made a probe fixed on the head: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1976680
And this kind of solution is more then enough.
I have found the smart effector from Duet3D to be excellent. Not sure how it plays with ramps marlin.
Ok, first up welcome to the wonderful world of Deltas! You don't actually need a z-probe if your delta is both built solid and calibrated properly. I've written a short guide on the subject: https://cobaltgriffonary.blogspot.com/2016/10/delta-3d-printer-calibration-easy-way.html
That should get you pointed in the right direction :)
