First, thank you for sharing this with us. It's going to be a long road to getting all done, but I'm really looking forward to the challenge. I've been enamored with the Curta ever since I learned about it at the Computer History Museum.
To that end, I've been going through the build manual to plan out the parts to print. I'm having some trouble matching up the "Parts Required" names with the various file names. Does anyone have a map between the two?
For example, the first instructions call for Support Column. Is that framesupport-_frame_support?
I just started printing some of the parts and can agree with your frustrations. Most of the names differ between the guides and Thingiverse files so I have used crtl+f to search each page for the part. However, I have mostly just researched enough to recognize the parts. Watch the assembly video and look at the Thingiverse file view. Yes the support column is the frame support!
Yeah, I think by the time I'm done, I'll be seeing the names in my sleep anyway ;) Between the video and the OnShape files, I've been able to piece together most of it. Having the OnShape files has been a great help. I've been bringing them into Fusion 360 and splitting a few of the funkier shaped parts into smaller, flatter pieces.
When I'm up to my elbows in Bondo, I'll be wishing that the hardest part was file names!
True! Look at some of these files that others have modded to make printing easier! They are super helpful!!
