sanding the Engine block and piston tools

by jrock1350

Just wanted to share this with the group. My son and I were sanding the bore s and pistons for the 22RE engine. We got talking and figured there was an easier way so we made these. https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:3167802
ID and OD sanders for the drill to speed it up. they work really good and so I thought I would share.

Valve assembly

by bswails1384

I dont fully understand the valve assembly process. It says to glue a 3mm jam nut into the spring retainer. Does the end of the 35mm rod need to be threaded?

Having trouble finding appropriate springs to work. The hardware list just says "I used custom springs once again."

Thanks

Lets learn how to design your own Eric-style engine model

by Justy_guy

Hello, as a proud Subaru owner I'm a big fan of the Eric's EJ20 model, but I have a Justy whitch have a EF12 engine (1.2l inline 3 cylinder)...
I have a Fusion360 and I never tryed to design something that complicated... Hope I started the right way - with the block...
I will use the same bearings as in the EJ20, M3 bolts (maybe with brass inserts on some places), maybe thicker magnets, GT2 timing belt, and same electric motor (but I'm not sure where to hide it), also I didn't find very good springs for the valves so I hope someone else got something cheap (from aliexpress would be cool)...
If anyone have any tips I will be very happy, I will also share anything I will find useful for others trying to design their engines :)

Totally stumped with camshaft assembly

by bmeissen

Hi all,

I'm hopeful that i'm just missing something silly. I printed all the parts and just assembled the camshaft. I had purchased the official hardware parts kit but I did not have a 175mm threaded rod in the kit. The only threaded rod in the kit appears to be about a 198-200mm.

Regardless, I was able to get all the parts of the camshaft together but where the Camshaft Assembly sheet shows 1.16 I'm measuring 2.7cm... so it appears my measurements are larger than the Assembly Instructions yet the REAL head scratcher is that my camshaft is ~1.3cm shorter than the span of the main bearing.

Printed on combination of Monoprice Maker Select v2.1 and Crealty CR-10 printers. Zero scaling changes.

In the picture you provided showing the assembly it's not very clear what parts go where. (It's not labeled) I will be assembling soon, every little bit of help would be great.

Rocker arm install

by choppy501

I am stumped on how to install the rocker arms as there is no hole in the bottom. Does a bolt go straight thru into the head? If so do I need to drill the hole myself? Thanks for any help

Starter Mount

by chadolphson

I have a problem with the starter mount connecting to the block. One of the long M3x40mm screws interferes with the through hole for the motor shaft. I started drilling out the screw hole (with motor already fastened to the mount) then noticed there were metal shavings because I had hit the motor hub. Is there a redesigned starter mount?
