I've been dabbling with 3D printing since 2007, with an interest in promotional and gift desktop products. I finally became convinced and was an early adopter of the FormLab Form1 printer, then six months later went in with my dad and bought a Makerbot Replicator 2, and six months after that assembled a SeeMeCNC Rostock MAX v2 from their kit, which I've upgraded with their injection molded x-carriages and ball joint arms (gotta say, those upgrades are a must). I later had the privilege of working as a cluster printer technician at Aleph Objects for close to a year (maker of the Lulzbot TAZ and Mini) and worked with their machines in a manufacturing setting on a daily basis. Now I got a TAZ 5. I've watched the market, learned the common tools, tinkered with Makerbot Desktop, Slic3r, MatterControl, Repetier Host and Cura. I deeply appreciate all the contributions other contributors have made, and respect the desires of the open-source movement and those who've contributed to it.
