I'm a student going to the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Schooling is nice, but it has taken 18 years for me to realize that I have my most fun learning because of curious tinkering rather than curriculum. I do believe education is one of the most important pillars in a moral society, but I also believe that the way we institute education in the U.S. is amoral. Sure. A person needs to be educated mostly when they are young rather than after puberty, because their developing minds are far more absorbent and versatile. This is also when learning effects a personality and a person's priorities (which help to construct a personality). I think it is ridiculous (and immoral) to say that education should begin and end within a certain time frame of a person's life, however. I believe that a person's value system changes every day of their lives. Anyone could want to change their career or studies at any point in their lives, or mix their old career and studies with their new interests. After I finish school, I will be taking community college courses, wherever I end up, so that I learn a little bit of everything. I will learn as I want to, depending on where my priorities fall. Education doesn't ever end! We are all always flawed in our perceptions of the world (in some way), and we are always striving to make that perception better (hopefully)!!
