The rings don't move around very much. The flex sensor keeps each set of rings from turning around your finger, and the rings' large size limits how far they can slide up and down.
These flex sensors are quire repeatable and stable - they're more than capable of reliably detecting which fingers are bent and which fingers are relaxed, which is all we need to detect hand gestures.
Per-finger tactile feedback really isn't feasible. Haptic actuators, pneumatics, and other force-feedback stuff would make the device too cumbersome. My personal data glove has a vibrating motor on the back of my hand, which is as good as it can get.
