I'm a lifelong maker, electronics technician, presently involved in digital microscopy work for schools and colleges in the Vancouver area. My interest in 3D printing peaked when I realized that I could service/make/replace otherwise obsolete parts for older school microscopes. Not only does this save the school money, but older school microscopes and other spectrum instruments, usually have superior optics than newer ones. Things like broken knobs or lens supports can be 3D printed.
