20 years using 3D, CNC (ShopBot 10yrs) and CAD. Model conversion and manipulation specialist, really good hardware and mechanical knowhow since I did, and still do a lot of contract work and product development.
I used trueSpace since the early versions and developed a motion control G-Code from animation path exporter for tS5.
Got a 'Top Modeler' award from Google for my 3D buildings and models, Trimble/SketchUp/GE.

2 Software credits related to 3D and MoCo.
Lately I have been beta testing and very much liking 3DOrchard, now most of my newer models are made with it, since it cuts out so many steps to having, sharing, showing and printing a model, and that saves time.
Right now I'm glad to be beta testing for https://www.vention.io and their Machine Builder which is a Cloud based modeling platform, where you can design
and order custom machine assemblies with a fast turnaround.
Vention has graciously shared their 3D models, helping pave the way for other hardware vendors to follow, hint, hint to all you hardware vendors...
(breaking news, igus said fine with the model sharing!) www.igus-cad.com
Look at those that I'm following, a lot of OpenSCAD, Customizer object generators for crankin' out shit.
Will have a 3D printer soon!
Here's a discussion I started regarding the sharing of CAD files.
Welcome further discussion on the topic of 'Fair Use' and modeler recognition.
And remember... it's Maker, not maker.
