I've been tinkering with things since I was a little kid. When the world went digital I did too and became a computer programmer. I was sad that DIY was getting left behind in the digital world. How could you make your own replacement part if it had complex parametric surfaces precision milled under computer control? What would it take to make your own graphing calculator? That's why I'm so excited to see that technology has brought DIY back to the individual through advances in home 3D printing and cheap, easily programmed micro-controllers such as the Ardiuno products.
