I’m a graduate researcher studying Structural Optimization, which is basically programming supercomputers to design structures. More specifically, I study how we can apply it to improve real-world buildings, like bridges, dams, and skyscrapers. That usually means 3D printers, and I've been involved in a lot of work trying to consistently describe the geometric behavior of 3D printed materials so that we can optimize around it.
Since my background is structural engineering, I'm mostly interested in making functional parts. You can expect that they'll usually be overdesigned.
